Git R Dun

Git R Dun

This cowboy saying is used to promote getting work accomplished that may be difficult. Branding, lassoing, or going on a cattle drive. Stories of cowboys and their horses piling fence rails at -40 to -50 F in blowing snow, abound in the cariboo while working for the big ranches in desolute valleys.

You can get r dun by riding on over to try food that tastes good and is healthy.

Chuck Wagon

The Cook's and supplies wagon, it is sacred ground as it is the supplies for the outfit. It carried the food, water, and the cook.  Cowboys revere the cook as he is the one who decides who gets what if, anything. The actions of the cook had little to do with keeping the cowboy healthy, but more with filling them up using with as little food as possible. There is no grocery chain in the Chilcotin plateau in the dead of winter.

So treat the cook with respect and you may get something good. If you don't, better not say much, cause you will want food tomorrow too.
